Doc is originally from Henry, South Dakota, where he graduated in the top ten of his graduating class (graduating class of nine). He tackled pre-veterinary studies at South Dakota State University and Kansas State University. From there, Doc earned a DVM degree from Kansas State University before completing a short stint in the U.S. Air Force.
Doc is the original founder of Belle Fourche Veterinary Clinic. He started the practice in 1971 before moving the business to its current location in 1974. The veterinary business has grown to include four full-time veterinarians and a number of technicians and staff.
Professional activities are centered on beef cattle and the ranching business. Doc participates in all aspects of beef cattle medicine with a special interest in bull development and breeding soundness exams. He has an uncanny ability to observe the smallest detail and has always strived to remain progressive. In addition to creating and building a successful veterinary business he has taken time to mentor countless aspiring young veterinarians.
His free time is usually spent quail hunting, trout fishing, working, and more importantly with his registered herd of Angus Cattle.
